Which postpartum bundle will have the essentials for hospital?

The Tender Beginnings Bundle is the ultimate essentials bundle that you can pop straight into your hospital bag and you will use every item! Hospitals usually supply ice-packs and stool softeners. However, it is always a safe option to add in an extra packet of maxi-pads just incase!

I am unsure of the birth I will have, what postpartum bundle would help me?

We understand that not all births go as planned! If you are planning/trying/hoping for a natural birth, purchasing the Mummy Mend Vaginal Birth Bundle is the way to go! And if you do end up having an emergency caesarean, all products besides the Heaties and Peri Spray will be beneficial to you!

How do I take care of my body post-birth?

Postpartum Bleeding

Vaginal bleeding post-birth is common regardless of the delivery method.
Lochia, which can be heavy initially, may persist for several weeks. Consult your GP if bleeding continues after 8 weeks.
Monitor the colour, heaviness, and odour of your bleeding, as these can indicate infections.
Bleeding typically begins while you are still in the hospital.
Use appropriate products; Disposable Postpartum Underwear are convenient and comfortable during your hospital stay, serving a dual function

Perineum Care

The perineum, between the vagina and anus, may tear and become swollen and sore after vaginal birth.
Soothe the area with warm water using a Peri Bottle, and apply cold packs or heat packs (Heaties) for relief.
Use Peri Spray after bowel movements to cleanse and aid healing.
Additional comfort methods include sitz baths and sitting on ring pillows.
Maintain cleanliness by showering daily, washing after bowel movements, and changing pads every 2-3 hours.

C-Section Scar Care

There are many different types of caesarean incisions but standard wound care includes:

Keep the wound clean and dry.
Avoid attempting to remove stitches or staples yourself.
Opt for loose-fitting clothing to minimize irritation around the incision.
Consider using a belly band or high-waisted underwear for added comfort.
Watch for any signs of infection.
Refrain from driving or activities that strain your incision; consult your GP before resuming.

Pain Management

Take pain relief as needed (consult your GP for suitable medications, especially if breastfeeding). i.e Panadol and/or Nurofen
Use warmth, such as a heat pack or wheat bag, for soothing pain or cramps.
If pain persists or worsens despite these measures, seek prompt medical advice.
REST, REST REST!

Hydration & Nutrition

Adequate hydration is crucial for postpartum recovery and successful breastfeeding.
Drink plenty of water and fluids to maintain hydration.
Follow a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and protein.
This supports physical healing and overall well-being during the postpartum period.
Prepping meals into the freezer before baby arrives also helps to ensure consumption of adequate meals

Self Care

Engage in gentle daily walks or light movement to prevent blood clots.
Rest as much as possible.
Avoid lifting anything heavier than your baby.
Eat a nutritious diet and stay well-hydrated to prevent constipation.
Delay sexual activity until you feel ready, which may take weeks or months.
Accept help from friends and family
Join. a mothers group or catch up with other mothers - great way to get out of the house and watch your mental health
Watch for postpartum depression/anxiety queues.
